digital x-ray of teeth

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays offer a number of advantages compared with traditional radiography. Early x-rays offered us adequate images of underlying dental structures, but digital images are much higher definition making it possible for our team to more precisely and accurately diagnose oral health concerns. Additionally, digital x-rays expose patients to 40% less radiation than traditional radiographs. These images are immediately available on our chairside computer monitors where we can enlarge and enhance the images to help patients more fully understand any concerns we find. Traditional x-rays were developed by hand using hazardous chemicals, and they were only visible on specialized light boards. The digital x-ray files are easily viewed, stored, and transferred as necessary to provide optimal patient care. We are even able to compare x-rays between appointments for more accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.

Dentist capturing digital impressions

Digital Impression System

Impressions are used in a number of restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments. These transferred bite impressions are typically captured by asking patients to bite into soft, clay-like material. Digital impressions allow us to do the same thing without having patients bite into putty-like impression materials. Patients bite down on the digital impression scanner, and it captures even the tiniest grooves and pits in teeth. These digital scans are immediately available to our dental lab where a restoration like a crown, bridge, or porcelain veneer can be crafted. This saves time in the treatment process and provides more accurately crafted results.

soft tissue laser dentistry tool

Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry

Soft tissue lasers allow us to perform periodontal treatments with greater precision, reduced discomfort and bleeding during procedures, and faster healing times. Lasers allow us to simultaneously remove only the smallest amount of gum tissue and cauterize the treated area. Most patients will not need stitches following treatment with soft tissue lasers, and those who are treated for gum disease using lasers, are less likely to experience reinfection. We offer a variety of treatments including scaling, root planing, and gum recontouring using our state-of-the-art soft tissue laser.

teeth displayed with intraoral camera

Intraoral Camera

Using a small camera specifically created to capture images of patients’ teeth, we take photos of any areas we specifically want to discuss with patients. This makes treatment planning much more straightforward as we are able to show patients exactly what we’re talking about. In some cases, we can even alter the images to help patients better understand their treatment options. Our goal is to make sure patients feel completely confident in their oral health care plan.

Diagnodent cavity detection tool

DIAGNOdent

Crystal clear, high definition digital x-rays allow us to diagnose tooth decay in the earliest stages, but DIAGNOdent takes that a step further by giving us the ability to predict where tooth decay may occur and stop it before it begins. DIAGNOdent is a laser that measures the density of tooth enamel and reports a series of numbers. We’re then able to use those numbers to determine what areas within our patients’ smiles are likely to develop cavities and direct their at-home hygiene to protect these areas.

TRIOS® Intraoral Scanner

With the TRIOS intraoral scanner, we’ve given up those uncomfortable, bad tasting traditional bite-down impressions. A digital scan is captured within seconds, and it also integrates with the advanced TRIOS analysis and treatment planning software. It’s easier for the patient -- especially for people who have sensitive gag reflexes -- and provides us with all the information we need to serve you best. Crystal clear images also allow your dentist to show you just what’s going on in your mouth, so you completely understand the details of every proposed treatment!
